THE 2006 INTERNATIONAL PROPERTY MAINTENANCE CODE REQUIRES ALL BUILDINGS TO DISPLAY AN ADDRESS VISIBLE FROM THE STREET. NUMBERS MUST BE A MINIMUM OF 4 INCHES HIGH AND 1/2 INCH WIDE AND MUST CONTRAST WITH THE BUILDING BACKGROUND. PLEASE CHECK YOUR PROPERTY AND MAKE SURE YOUR HOUSE NUMBER MEETS THIS REQUIREMENT.

2017 MONTGOMERY BOROUGH OCCUPATION TAXES AND PER CAPITA TAXES ARE DUR BY DECEMBER 31, 2017

The Montgomery Borough Office will be closed on November 23rd through November 27th. Re-open oat 7:30 AM on November 28. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Be sure to get your letter into Santa before December 18, 2017. Letters may be dropped off at the Borough Office or at the Santa Mailbox at the Santa House near the post office

LAST DAY FOR LEAF PICK-UP IS MONDAY, NOVEMBER 20TH. If youhave leaves that need picked up call the Borough Office at 570-547-1671.

It’s that time again for the Community Christmas Program. Last year 227 families received boxes of food and 297 children received toys. Your donations are greatly needed and appreciated to keep this going. The food bill last year was $7,251.97. That was paid with your generous donations. Also the toys were donated by many of you including help from Toys For Tots (The Marine Corp League). All the toys stay in the Montgomery Area and the Montgomery Area School District. If you wish to help and donate please do so. Checks should be made payable to Montgomery Christmas Committee. You may drop off donations at the Borough Office located at 35 S Main Street, Montgomery. Toy boxes will also be at various locations, including the Borough Office. If you have any questions, or know of someone in need, please call Nancy Gruver at 570-547-6777.

The Montgomery Area Historical Society Adam Room Museum is open every second Saturday from 10 AM – 1 PM. The museum is located on W Houston Avenue right behind the Montgomery Public Library.


BRUSH DISPOSAL IS NOW AVAILABLE MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, 8 AM – 3 PM! The site is located on Cemetery Hill Road, Clinton Township. YOU MUST CALL THE OFFICE at 570-547-1671 prior to taking any brush up there because the gate will be locked. The only items that are permitted to be dropped of is as follows: LEAVES, GRASS CLIPPINGS, GARDEN WASTE, TREE BRANCHES, CHRISTMAS TREES AND CHIPPED SHRUBBERY. Please adhere to these regulations in order for this site to remain open.

MONTGOMERY BOROUGH IS HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE “USAGAIN”. This is a service to Borough Residents to donate clothing and accessories to the needy. There will be bins located by the recycling area. Acceptable items include Shoes, Boots, Clothing, Gloves, Hats, Bags and purses, Belts, Sheets and Blankets, Drapes and Towels. Your donations are greatly appreciated. Montgomery Borough is looking for volunteers to be on the Montgomery Borough Zoning Hearing Board and the Montgomery Borough Planning Commission. Candidates must be a resident of the Borough. Make sure to keep your lawn cut to a maximum of SIX inches. Grass cutting may have to take place at least twice a week. Avoid potential fines by keeping your grass and weeds trimmed.

AS OF JANUARY 1, 2015 LYCOMING COUNTY WILL NO LONGER BE OFFERING CURB SIDE RECYCLING. RECYCABLES CAN BE DROPPED OFF AT OUR RECYCLE CENTER AT THE BOWER STREET EXTENSION SITE. ITEMS ACCEPTED ARE CARDBOARD, PLASTIC MILK AND SODA BOTTLES, COLORED PLASTIC BOTTLES, ALUMINUM AND TIN CANS, NEWSPAPER AND MAGAZINES AND CLEAR, GREEN AND BROWN GLASS. ALSO RESIDENTS CAN SIGN UP FOR THE COUNTY’S SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING SERVICES BY CONTACTING THEIR LOCAL HAULING COMPANY.

DOG LICENSING – ITS THE LAW! – All dogs three months or older must be licensed by January 1 of each year.  Violators can be cited with a maximum fine of $300 per violation plus court costs.  If you dog gets lost, a current license is the fastest way to get him back.  The small license fee helps the millions of dogs in the state by funding the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Dog Law Enforcement Office.  Purchase your license from your local county treasurer.  Applications are available at the Borough office.  Visit www.agriculture.state.pa.us or call 717-787-3062.

 

Montgomery Borough Council meets every second Tuesday of the month at 6:30PM at the Borough Hall, 35 South Main Street, Montgomery. Work Sessions will be held on Monday’s and Thursday’s as needed. The public is encouraged to attend.

Borough Employees CPR/AED Certified!
In July 2014 at the Montgomery Borough Hall The Montgomery Borough and Montgomery Water & Sewer Authority Employees received a 3-hour training course on Adult & Child CPR and AED use. Michael Magyar, NREMTP, CPR instructor from the American Heart Association, conducted the course. This course was held in conjunction with the Montgomery Borough’s Safety Board.

 

Building Code Official, Walter J. Bohner, has recently changed hours.  effective August 18, 2014 the office hours for the Code Enforcement Officer are as follows:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday – 9AM till Noon; Thursday from 3 PM until 6 PM
