MONTGOMERY FIRE COMPANY 125TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION!
TO BE HELD AT THE MONTGOMERY CARNIVAL GROUNDS. Thursday, August 17th – 6 PM-10PM. Family night, mock accident with life flight display, bounce houses for the kids. FRIDAY, AUGUST 18th – Block Party from 5 PM – Midnight, DJ Black Cat Sound 5 PM-7PM and 10PM-midnight. Live music by the TICKLES from 7 PM-10PM. SATURDAY, AUGUST 19TH – Open House from 9 AM – noon, 125th PARADE at 2 PM Featuring Nittany Highland Bagpipe Band, Car In The Park from 4 PM – 6 PM, Block Party from 5 PM – midnight, DJ CRAIG MILLER from 4 PM – 11 PM, FIREWORKS @ 10PM provided by Hot Shota Pyrotechenics!

The Montgomery Area Historical Society Adam Room Museum is open every second Saturday from 10 AM – 1 PM. The museum is located on W Houston Avenue right behind the Montgomery Public Library.


BRUSH DISPOSAL IS NOW AVAILABLE MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, 8 AM – 3 PM! The site is located on Cemetery Hill Road, Clinton Township. YOU MUST CALL THE OFFICE at 570-547-1671 prior to taking any brush up there because the gate will be locked. The only items that are permitted to be dropped of is as follows: LEAVES, GRASS CLIPPINGS, GARDEN WASTE, TREE BRANCHES, CHRISTMAS TREES AND CHIPPED SHRUBBERY. Please adhere to these regulations in order for this site to remain open.

4TH OF JULY EVENTS!
Prior to the fireworks at dusk events include inflatables for the children, free concessions (cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn), three half-hour presentations consisting of human video, garbonics (rhythm songs using garbage cans), and a dance activity for children. Also there will be the making of balloon animals. The event will be staffed by the New Covenant Assembly members, NCA youth ministry and ONE18 Staff.

MONTGOMERY BOROUGH IS HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE “USAGAIN”. This is a service to Borough Residents to donate clothing and accessories to the needy. There will be bins located by the recycling area. Acceptable items include Shoes, Boots, Clothing, Gloves, Hats, Bags and purses, Belts, Sheets and Blankets, Drapes and Towels. Your donations are greatly appreciated. Montgomery Borough is looking for volunteers to be on the Montgomery Borough Zoning Hearing Board and the Montgomery Borough Planning Commission. Candidates must be a resident of the Borough. Make sure to keep your lawn cut to a maximum of SIX inches. Grass cutting may have to take place at least twice a week. Avoid potential fines by keeping your grass and weeds trimmed.

AS OF JANUARY 1, 2015 LYCOMING COUNTY WILL NO LONGER BE OFFERING CURB SIDE RECYCLING. RECYCABLES CAN BE DROPPED OFF AT OUR RECYCLE CENTER AT THE BOWER STREET EXTENSION SITE. ITEMS ACCEPTED ARE CARDBOARD, PLASTIC MILK AND SODA BOTTLES, COLORED PLASTIC BOTTLES, ALUMINUM AND TIN CANS, NEWSPAPER AND MAGAZINES AND CLEAR, GREEN AND BROWN GLASS. ALSO RESIDENTS CAN SIGN UP FOR THE COUNTY’S SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING SERVICES BY CONTACTING THEIR LOCAL HAULING COMPANY.

DOG LICENSING – ITS THE LAW! – All dogs three months or older must be licensed by January 1 of each year.  Violators can be cited with a maximum fine of $300 per violation plus court costs.  If you dog gets lost, a current license is the fastest way to get him back.  The small license fee helps the millions of dogs in the state by funding the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Dog Law Enforcement Office.  Purchase your license from your local county treasurer.  Applications are available at the Borough office.  Visit www.agriculture.state.pa.us or call 717-787-3062.

 

Montgomery Borough Council meets every second Tuesday of the month at 6:30PM at the Borough Hall, 35 South Main Street, Montgomery. Work Sessions will be held on Monday’s and Thursday’s as needed. The public is encouraged to attend.

Borough Employees CPR/AED Certified!
In July 2014 at the Montgomery Borough Hall The Montgomery Borough and Montgomery Water & Sewer Authority Employees received a 3-hour training course on Adult & Child CPR and AED use. Michael Magyar, NREMTP, CPR instructor from the American Heart Association, conducted the course. This course was held in conjunction with the Montgomery Borough’s Safety Board.

 

Building Code Official, Walter J. Bohner, has recently changed hours.  effective August 18, 2014 the office hours for the Code Enforcement Officer are as follows:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday – 9AM till Noon; Thursday from 3 PM until 6 PM
Please plan accordingly for any inspections, issuance of building permits, etc.  Voice mail is active by calling 547-6919.
